Welcome to Life and Death Services
Holding space for beginnings, endings, and everything between
Whether you’ve landed here through curiosity, heartache, a desire for support, or a simple longing for something deeper, I want you to know you are welcome. Life and Death Services was born from the belief that every person (and every animal) deserves to be seen, heard, and honored, especially during moments of transition.
I’m Cinda Gillilan, a social worker, educator, and spiritual companion with decades of experience walking with people through change, loss, growth, and healing. I offer spiritual direction, end-of-life support, companion animal care, and language learning services—because each of these reflects the same truth: that our stories matter, and we don’t have to walk through them alone.
Why this blog exists
This blog is a space for reflection, education, and connection. Here, I’ll share thoughts and resources on topics close to my heart and core to my work: how to navigate death and dying with tenderness, how to support our animals as they age or cross over, how to listen to your spiritual longings without fear, and how to grow your voice, especially if English is not your first language and you're working to communicate with more confidence and clarity.
You might find practical guides here one week and quiet reflections the next. My hope is that each post offers something real, whether it’s a tool, an idea, or a simple sense of companionship.
What to expect
In the weeks to come, I’ll be writing about:
Spiritual direction and soul care for people of all (or no) faith backgrounds
End-of-life planning, including green funerals, advance directives, and what it means to die well
Supporting our beloved animals through aging, illness, and loss—including how Reiki and ritual can help
Helping professionals learning English, with encouragement and resources for those working in healthcare, social work, hospitality, or veterinary fields
Everything I write will come from a place of deep listening, with a commitment to accessibility, compassion, and justice.
Come as you are
If something here resonates, I’d love to hear from you. And if you’re just here to read quietly, that’s welcome too. My door is open.
Whether you are preparing for an ending, stepping into something new, or simply pausing to breathe, I hope you find something here that reminds you: you are not alone.
Thanks for being here. Let’s walk this path together.
With warmth and heart,
♥ Cinda
